How To Unsent Message To Alex

How many times have we sent a message of love to someone and then deleted it? Everyone has experienced this, and it is certainly not pleasant. Rora Blue created The Unsent Project to show that people are not alone.

Rora Blue, a queer-disabled conceptual artist, lives in Nevada, USA. Blue’s artwork is characterized by color, text, and interactivity. Blue’s artwork relies heavily upon color, which conveys a feeling to the viewers. Her artistic statement states, “I have always believed that some emotions are so large they can only exist in color… My art has the duality of being an outlet for expression for me and others who need it.”

Blue was awarded the VSA Emerging Young Artist Award for Excellence by the John F. Kennedy Center for Performing Arts, Washington D.C. Her work has been exhibited internationally in nine countries. Blue received her BFA from the San Francisco Art Institute in New Genres. She has been featured in numerous media outlets, including The New York Times, Good Morning America, Huffington Post, and Cosmopolitan.

In 2015, she started the Unsent Project. According to the website, it was “created to figure out what colors people love.”

What is The Unsent Project?

The Unsent Project is both a website and a physical collage that displays over 40,000 unsent messages.

Each message was originally intended for the sender’s first lover. First, love does not necessarily refer to a boyfriend or girlfriend. This could also refer to the first person or animal you have ever shown love to or someone you truly care about. It could be your ex, a friend from high school, or a relative.

To help people understand what colors they love, the messages are coded with the color chosen by the sender. Each color is associated with an emotion. This project shows how people relate to color and emotion to each other and the infinite feelings we have yet to express.

The website allows you to search for messages by color or name. Clicking on the achieve tab in the top right corner of the homepage will allow you to choose a color and continue your search. If you want something specific, you can use the search bar at the top of the page to type in a name.

It takes time to load messages, so be patient.

The Unsent Project Color Meaning

If you plan to examine the messages by their colors, you will need to know what each color means.

The messages can be divided into eleven colors: black, grey, red or yellow, green, blue, purple, pink, purple, and brown.

Black

The color black symbolizes the darkness and despair brought on by someone. This could mean anything, from a broken relationship to betrayal. A black background will be used if your message is very dark.

White

White symbolizes missing someone and longing for things to be the same. Your unsent message that expresses how much you miss someone in your life will be classified as white.

Gray

Gray is a sign of understanding and pain. Gray can be a sign that you have come to terms with your situation.

Red

Red shows a variety of emotions, but mostly thanksgiving and love. It conveys both hurt and appreciation. People who send messages often choose red as the second most popular color.

Orange

Orange can be a little bit unpredictable. Some messages are humorous, while others show the pain in a resentful manner.

Yellow

Yellow is more about a positive outlook than the loss of loved ones.

These messages are so encouraging and kind. I don’t know why they weren’t sent. It is always a good idea for someone to send a sweet message.

Green

Green is more hopeful but melancholy. All seem to be at a loss of love, but they all appear to believe that things can still turn out for the best.

Blue

Blue is the most popular color and stands for all types of love. According to the survey, people associate blue with love the most. This could be because blue is a color that can signify happiness, but it can also be used to indicate if someone feels “blue” or “down.”

Pink

Pink represents the feeling of failing to win despite trying your best. Many of us have been in a relationship where we gave everything and received very little. Pink demonstrates those emotions.

Purple

Another color that can be used to associate pain with positivity is purple. Some messages in purple are simply positive words for others, while others are positive ways to deal with their pain.

Brown

Brown is a symbol of less intense feelings. Although all emotions can be described, Brown represents less intense feelings.

The meanings of all the colors are very similar. They all represent love. The sender will interpret the color connection as a symbol of love or loss.

What does this all mean? Why should you care?

It is important because it shows that we can better communicate our feelings than not. Send the text as long as you express your feelings about that person.

The Unsent Project can teach us that emotions are not deleted just because we delete text.

You won’t ever wonder “what if?” or think, “if only they could have known.” You’ll be able either to move on with them or with yourself.
