An entrepreneur from the local area is unhappy that everybody is going out of his area. Bay Area.

Twilio Chief Executive Officer Jeff Lawson has taken to Twitter and LinkedIn to urge his fellow tech executives to stay within the Bay Area and invest in San Francisco’s long-term viability. This comes in the wake of Oracle and Hewlett Packard Enterprise recently announcing they would move their offices in Texas, and tech legend Keith Rabois declared that he’s relocating from San Francisco permanently because he’s finding it “impossible to stay.”

“I’m asking my friends, colleagues, and other CEOs to commit to the Bay. Commit to stay and build on what has given many to us. That’s what it’s like being a part of the community. @twilio won’t be leaving,” posted on December. 18. Twitter.

Lawson continued to explain how he’s helping the community, noting that the couple has contributed to Give2SF, one of the cities’ COVID aid funds, and also offered $8 million in 2021 to Help Kitchen. This organization provides the hungry with local eateries for meals.

Local tech executives have responded to the appeal, including Salesforce Chief Operating Officer Bret Taylor. He tweeted, “I am a native of Oakland, and I’m thrilled to remain within this area of the Bay Area — to create jobs locally and to help solve the many issues we face as a society and in collaboration with local governments and non-profit organizations. And I’ve never been more hopeful in the direction of California.”

Twilio was established in 2008 and now has 135 employees working within the Bay Area, according to LinkedIn. The cloud-based communications platform is home to two office locations within San Francisco, both in the South Beach area of SoMa.
